MASTERS FINAL PROJECT, ECOLE DE LA CHAMBRE SYNDICALE DE LA COUTURE PARISIENNE
Contemporary pattern cutting consists in the ability to interpret images creatively as well as technically. In their fourth year of Fashion Design studies, six students are selected to access the ‘Modélist Créatif’ Master Course, where they develop their own creative vision while applying technical methods of Haute Couture. During fittings, the students explore the relation between technique, volume, clothing and the body. In Spring 2018, the students are given one single image of research, that they develop creatively into a three-dimensional concept that will carry out through a capsule collection.
Project created for PARSONS PARIS FASHION DESIGN SECOND YEAR
Based on the construction principles developed by a selection of major fashion designers who rethought the 20th century dressed body and its material envelopes, the studio project focused on the observation and analysis of structural elements or details, reproduced in different scales, with renewed proportions and functions, to generate unexpected shapes and uses. Entitled Construction Stories, the project aimed to understand fashion heritage from a different perspective and thereby demonstrate how questioning the timeless architecture of Haute Couture masterpieces can lead to meaningful artistic interpretations.
